Coconut Sorbet

Poor little Oscar hurt his paw while I was at work so I took the day off and we hung out in the kitchen and made puppy friendly Coconut Sorbet as Recipe #6 in our National Ice Cream Month Challenge. (Recipe #5 was a re-do of our Tiramisu Ice Cream for my boss’ birthday as a special request. Click the link to find the recipe!)

Coconut is fine for pups but I must warn you, they should only consume sugar and lactose in moderation. If you’re looking for a 100% dog forward recipe, use unsweetened coconut milk, sub out the heavy cream for a soy or almond milk and scratch adding any extra sugar.

This recipe is dog and human friendly. So a scoop for the pupper won’t hurt and a two scoops for you definitely won’t.

With only three ingredients, this sorbet is as easy as it gets folks. Plenty of opportunity to customize this dessert with any add-ins, swirls or toppings or even throw it on top of a fruit salad or in a blender with some pineapple!

Make sure you’re getting organic ingredients as frequently as you can. I know it sounds like bullshit when all these chefs go on their rants about “the freshest ingredients really make the difference Tracy blah blah blah”, but it’s annoyingly true. Get fresh coconut milk if you can and if you can’t, ORGANIC. Others will add chemicals and crap to make it taste fresh. And that’s just ewwwwwwie.

Send me some pics of you and your puppy friends enjoying the dog days of summer and your scoops of ice cream!

And above all- STAY SCREAMIN
